Five lads, Millions of hearts.

One Direction … Everyone has heard of them, at least once since the famous boy band was formed in 2010. Thousands – what, millions – of girls and boys around the world call themselves ‘Directioners’ and although it was cute in the beginning, it is starting to annoy me now.

Were we as bad as these teens, when the Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and Westlife were hip and happening in the ‘90’s? Belting out random lyrics, screaming when a new gossip appears online… Or am I just getting too old for this sh*t?

Don’t get me wrong, when I first heard a One Direction song – I think it was One Thing – I kind of liked it. It was a cheerful song, easy lyrics and a tune that would be stuck inside your head for hours on end… I have nothing against Niall, Harry, Zayn, Liam and Louis ( I had to google their names though) I just feel like I’m haunted by everything that has to do with One Direction.

A few weeks ago, Sof and I decided to have a day in London, do some shopping, have a few drinks… Sounds good right?! Just two twenty – something year old girls having a relaxed day out. We were in Primark, on Oxford street and suddenly there was a group of girls, who asked (and I quote) “Where is the One Direction section?”  SERIOUSLY?! There is a ‘One Direction section’ in Primark?! Are they out of their minds?! And damn… I turn around and come face to face with 5 white T-shirts with their faces on them… It gave me the creeps, honestly.

Later that night, we were sitting down somewhere and out of the blue some grown men start singing songs (probably because they were drunk) and one of the men shouted (and I quote) “We sound like One Direction” SERIOUSLY?! You’re approximately 30 years old and you dare to shout that?!

Everyone seems to love One Direction and wherever I go, whatever I do, it’s like they’re waiting around the corner, waiting for that one opportunity to ruin my day… Even Oz loves the boy band, so during working hours, there’s just no escaping the five lads that have stolen millions of hearts, except mine.

How am I going to cope?!
